C Specification

To record a mesh tasks drawing command, call:

void vkCmdDrawMeshTasksNV(
    VkCommandBuffer                             commandBuffer,
    uint32_t                                    taskCount,
    uint32_t                                    firstTask);

Parameters

  • commandBuffer is the command buffer into which the command will be recorded.

  • taskCount is the number of local workgroups to dispatch in the X dimension. Y and Z dimension are implicitly set to one.

  • firstTask is the X component of the first workgroup ID.

Description

When the command is executed, a global workgroup consisting of taskCount local workgroups is assembled.

    commandBuffer must be a valid VkCommandBuffer handle

  • VUID-vkCmdDrawMeshTasksNV-commandBuffer-recording
    commandBuffer must be in the recording state

  • VUID-vkCmdDrawMeshTasksNV-commandBuffer-cmdpool
    The VkCommandPool that commandBuffer was allocated from must support VK_QUEUE_GRAPHICS_BIT operations

  • VUID-vkCmdDrawMeshTasksNV-renderpass
    This command must only be called inside of a render pass instance

  • VUID-vkCmdDrawMeshTasksNV-suspended
    This command must not be called between suspended render pass instances

  • VUID-vkCmdDrawMeshTasksNV-videocoding
    This command must only be called outside of a video coding scope

Host Synchronization
  • Host access to commandBuffer must be externally synchronized

  • Host access to the VkCommandPool that commandBuffer was allocated from must be externally synchronized
