GnuPG 2.[56].x is the current stable branch of GnuPG.
GnuPG 1.4.x is the classic version of GnuPG without support for
modern algorithms.
You may install both versions on the same system as they are
designed to allow for this.
The directory unstable/ has GnuPG versions which are not intended
for general use. See the README file in that directory.
GnuPG versions older than 1.2 can be found in ../historic/.
Tarballs named gnupg-w32-*tar.xz contain the corresponding source
code for Windows installers as found in the ../binary directory.
They come with all sources and thus are also useful as a one stop
download for building on Unix: Install the patchelf(1) utility
for your system, download, unpack, and run
make -f build-aux/speedo.mk this-native
to build everything needed.
To find the current version version of a GnuPG package, use
the script gnupg/build-aux/getswdb.sh which comes with GnuPG.
If you are looking for service or support for GnuPG see
https://gnupg.org/service.html .
If you would like to contribute to the development of one of these
packages, contact the package maintainer or the bug-reporting address
of the package (which should be listed in the package itself), or look
on www.gnu.org for more information on how to contribute.
